Emerging Substances of Abuse
There is an increasing concern regarding the recreational use of emerging substances (i.e. tianeptine, xylazine, delta-8 THC) and the complications that surround them. Tianeptine, an atypical tricyclic antidepressant, along with xylazine, a non-opioid sedative not approved for human use, and delta-8 THC, a cannabinoid derived from the cannabis plant, have all emerged as potential substances for abuse.
